You receive a specimen collection kit in the mail and can collect your specimen in the privacy of your own home.  No need for an office visit and no physician consultation required. No awkward scenario of waiting in a busy reception area and being ushered to a small sterile collection room common of fertility treatment centers. You deliver the collection kit with your specimen to the Mobile Lab which will be parked at your neighborhood clinic or other convenient location as determined at the time of scheduling.

Best Practices for Evaluating and Freezing Sperm

Reprovantage follows recommendations de-scribed in the WHO Laboratory Manual for the Analysis and Processing of Human Semen.  These universally accepted methods aid our androl-ogists in preparing sperm for cryopreser-vation.  Key to best possible outcomes is the careful assessment and processing of specimens within 1 hour of collection (see "Timing is Everything").  Measures of sperm quality, both prior to freezing and following thawing ("test thaw"), are included in the Cryo Report and are made available to each client.

Reprovantage uses different freezing protocols depending on the quality and the source of the sperm specimen (ejaculated or surgically extracted sperm) in order to optimize conditions for sperm survival and maximize utility of the frozen specimens.

Decades of Experience

Research Driven

At the core of Reprovantage is a passion for discovery. The company founders are active collaborators on numerous projects with private companies and public universities. Through these relationships and our internal research program, we are continually evaluating laboratory techniques for processing and preserving sperm in light of our studies on sperm structure and function.

Visit our Research and Development page for more information on research partners, our past and present endeavors, and our hopes for future advancements.

Secure Long-Term Storage of Specimens

Cryopreserved sperm specimens are kept in Liquid Nitrogen Storage Tanks in the Reprovantage Tissue Bank Facility.  All Tanks have 24-7 electronic monitoring to detect minute changes in temperature as well as level of liquid nitrogen. All Tanks are visually inspected daily (including weekends) and topped off with liquid nitrogen as needed.  The tanks are stored in a locked, climate-controlled room with internal and external fire suppression systems.  The tissue bank facility is electronically monitored for both temperature and security. Reprovantage  has "off hours" human surveillance, allowing for rapid response to facility and tank alarms on evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Monitored and Protected Private Facility

Reprovantage maintains offices, a tissue bank and supporting cell-culture laboratory on 5 acres of privately owned property. The property is gated and access is limited to suppliers and providers of support services.  Reprovantage facilities are locked and video-surveilled.  Access to facilities is restricted to authorized personnel.

Reprovantage is located in the upper eastern plains of Sacramento county, a region NOT prone to fires, floods, earthquakes, tornados, or other natural disasters.  Our facilities are located within a ¼ mile of the local fire department and our power is supplied by the reliable Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). All the same, Reprovantage maintains dedicated fire suppression, fire and security alarm, and emergency power systems to provide continuous protection of our facilities in the event of power interruptions.
