OUR STORY

Reprovantage is the product of the collective vision of husband and wife laboratory specialists Ted and Charlene Tollner.  Their 30-year professional journey in research and clinical service has positioned them to identify and meet a growing need in reproductive medicine.  Reprovantage was founded in Sacramento County in 2018 as a Research and Development company with the goal of developing superior techniques for the long-term preservation of sperm specimens as well as mechanisms for improving access to sperm cryopreservation services. Today, our one-of-a-kind mobile lab operation places full semen evaluation and sperm cryopreservation capabilities near to point of care, powerfully serving male patients who will either undergo fertility altering medical treatment or who are otherwise at risk for loss of fertility.

OUR  LEADERSHIP

Charlene received her training at UC Davis in the division of Reproductive Biology and has been an andrologist and laboratory manager for over 30 years.  Charlene ran the lead laboratory for a number of multi-site, multi-national studies on the impact of industrial chemicals on male fertility and has contributed to chapters in two editions of the WHO Laboratory Manual for Semen Analysis. Charlene envisioned a program dedicated to male fertility preservation in 2012 when  she recognized how many IVF centers are often unable to accommodate urgent requests for cryopreservation of semen of men and male teens scheduled for cancer treatment. She has spent the subsequent years considering what policies and procedures would make male fertility preservation more accessible, convenient, and discrete.
